Six Essential Maintenance Tips for Maximizing Aggregate Crusher Performance

Aggregate crushers undergo a lot of wear and tear when crushing rocks. Proper maintenance is important to keep it running smoothly and efficiently. Here are some maintenance tips to keep your crusher in top-notch condition.

  1. Inspect the Air Filter

Before operating your aggregate crusher, inspect the air filter. Gently tap or blow out the air filter to remove dust. When dust exceeds the primary filter, it’s time to change it.

  1. Check Grease Fittings and Fluids

Keeping fluids at the proper levels helps your aggregate crusher run properly. Ensure the grease fittings are well-lubricated to prevent friction and wear. Check the oil, coolant, and hydraulic fluid, and top off the fluids if running low. It’s also important to check the fuel and Diesel Exhaust Fluid (DEF) levels to ensure an adequate supply of each. If there’s not, top them off as well.

  1. Check Impact Crusher

Before opening the crusher box, activate the RM release system to allow packed dirt to loosen up. Inspect the impact crusher for wear and damage and replace worn parts. Before closing the crusher housing, clean the edges and seating areas to ensure a proper seal. It’s also essential to readjust the gap size opening and verify that the crusher housing is securely locked.

  1. Clean Your Screens

Clean screens allow the crusher to separate materials of different sizes better. For a smooth material bypass, take the time to remove material pegging and blinding on the pre-screen.

  1. Inspect and Repair Conveyor Belts

Check the conveyor belts for damage and repair any issues you find. Adjust belt skirting as needed. Keep belt clips stored with the machine for on-the-spot repairs of minor tears or cut ends.

  1. Complete Visual Inspection

Conducting a comprehensive visual inspection is the final step to ensuring your aggregate crusher is in good condition. Check for damages and missing parts or components. If you find damage, repair it or schedule a service. If you’re missing parts, replace them as soon as possible. Inspect for dust buildup around Rosta torsion elements and clean the area if needed. Look for hydraulic leaks and address them promptly. Finally, check the battery life and charge the remote-control battery if necessary.

By following these maintenance tips, you can significantly extend the lifespan of your aggregate crusher and ensure consistent, efficient operation. Regular checks and preventive measures will enhance performance and minimize downtime and repair costs, ultimately maximizing the return on your equipment investment.
